Thank you for choosing Trimly. We’re an Australian owned and operated business, and we genuinely appreciate your support.
Both our Premium Cedar Shoe Trees and Heritage Shoe Trees are designed to help your shoes recover their shape after wear, reducing creasing and supporting the structure where it matters most. We’ve tested them across a wide range of footwear, from structured dress shoes to more relaxed constructions, and we use them daily in our own rotation.
This guide will show you how to get the most out of them, so you can extend the life and appearance of your shoes from day one.

When you unbox your shoe trees, you’ll probably notice the cedar aroma straight away.
That’s coming from the natural oils in the wood. We use a high proportion of cedar heartwood. Heartwood contains more concentrated cedar oils, which are what give cedar its well-known anti-odour, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.
If you notice a white, powder-like substance on the surface, don’t worry. That’s crystallised cedar oil. It can appear with temperature changes.
It’s harmless. Just brush it off or wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth.
You might also see minor oil marks inside the box. Again, harmless and completely normal with natural cedar.
You’re keen to get them into your shoes, and we don’t blame you.
If your shoes have laces, loosen them slightly to allow easier insertion.
Before inserting, compress the forepart into the heel and the toe spring once. This engages the spring mechanism so the shoe trees expand properly inside the shoe. It takes a second and ensures they’re working as intended from the start.
Inserting your Premium Shoe Trees is quick and easy to do and will take seconds out of your day. Include it in your routine and one of the first things you do when you return home. This simple habit will exponetially increase the life of your shoes and keep them looking new for longer.
Our Premium Shoe Trees are sized in European measurements.
The goal is a proper fit, where the shoe tree expands through the shoe, applying light, even tension from heel to toe. This supports the structure and helps the shoe return to its natural shape after wear.
Some shoes will feel more snug than others depending on their shape and size. A snug fit will not stretch your shoes under normal use. It simply applies enough tension to support the leather and reduce creasing over time.
As shown below, the right fit sits snug through the shoe without forcing the leather or leaving excess space.
Trimly Shoe Trees require very little maintenance. Allow them to air occasionally between uses.
If the cedar aroma fades over time, a light sand with fine grit (around 200) will refresh the surface and reactivate the natural oils.
