Thank you for your recent purchase. If your shoes are tight or causing discomfort, your Premium Shoe Stretcher is designed to relieve pressure and improve fit. Follow this guide for the best result.
Before inserting the stretcher into your shoe, take a moment to reset it to its starting position. This means ensuring both the widening handle and the lengthening wheel are fully closed. Beginning from this position allows the stretcher to slide easily into the shoe and prevents the mechanism from binding or getting stuck during insertion.
Apply Trimly Shoe Stretch Spray inside the tight area of the shoe. This helps relax the leather so it can stretch safely.
Insert [E] spot stretching bunion plugs into the toe block, if required.
Slide the toe block (A) into the toe box of the shoe.
Ensure the heel block (B) sits fully inside the shoe before adjusting the stretcher.
Turn the lengthening wheel (C) counter-clockwise to move the heel block towards the back of the shoe.
Once the stretcher feels snug, turn the wheel two to three additional turns to apply stretching pressure.
Turn the widening handle (D) clockwise to expand the toe block and widen the shoe.
Once resistance is felt, add two to three additional turns to create the stretch.
Leave the stretcher inside the shoe for 6–8 hours.
For tighter shoes or thicker leather, leaving it overnight often produces better results.
To remove the stretcher, first release the pressure:
This retracts the blocks so the stretcher can be removed easily. Pull it out slowly.
You can typically gain up to half a size in width.
Stretching length is limited and less reliable.
Not essential, but recommended, especially if you're in a rush.
Trimly Stretch Spray helps soften the material and improves how well the stretch holds.
Best results come from leather and suede.
Canvas and some synthetics may stretch slightly, but they often revert over time. Fully synthetic uppers usually resist stretching.
Most shoes respond within 1 to 3 rounds.
Stretch, remove, try on, then repeat if needed.
If there’s no improvement after three attempts, the shoe is likely too small or unsuitable for stretching.
Common reasons:
Yes.
Shoe Trees help hold the adjusted shape and reduce the chance of the leather pulling back between wears.
Applying too much tension can overstretch your shoes, leaving them loose and misshapen. It can also damage the stretcher’s threading, making it difficult or impossible to use.
Tip: When you start to feel tension, give the turning handle three more turns. That's the sweet spot.
Yes, your stretchers are guaranteed for 2½ years, but this does not include over-stretching i.e. damage to the thread.
