Before inserting the stretcher into your boots, take a moment to reset it to its starting position. This means ensuring both the widening handle is fully closed by turning it anti-clockwise. Beginning from this position allows the stretcher to slide easily into the shoe and prevents the mechanism from binding or getting stuck during insertion.
Apply Trimly Shoe Stretch Spray inside the boots, spraying it towards the area you feel is tight or pinching. This helps relax the leather so it can stretch safely.
Insert the Spot Stretching Plug(s) [B] into the Toe Block [A], if required.
Slide the Toe Block [A] into the toe box of the shoe.
Ensure the toe block sits fully inside the shoe before adjusting the stretcher.
Turn the widening handle (C) clockwise to expand the toe block and widen the shoe.
Once resistance is felt, add two to three additional turns to create the stretch.
Leave the stretcher inside the shoe for 6–8 hours.
For tighter shoes or thicker leather, leaving it overnight often produces better results.
To remove the stretcher, first release the pressure turn the widening handle [C] counter-clockwise
This retracts the blocks so the stretcher can be removed easily. Pull it out slowly.

Shoe Trees help hold the adjusted shape and reduce the chance of the leather pulling back between wears.
